Wilk's Daughter (ウイルクの娘, Uiruku no musume) is the 298th chapter of the Golden Kamuy manga.
Synopsis[]
Koito and Nagakura engages in a sword fight with each other and as Nagakura trips over a dead soldier, Koito wonders if the former Shinsengumi has gone senile. Nearby, Shiraishi is concerned that more soldiers are approaching their position and elsewhere, Tsurumi chases Asirpa through the windbreakers. A wounded soldier grabs Asirpa's leg, causing her to fall over so that Tsurumi could catch up. However, Sugimoto arrives in time to help her onto his horse and flees as Asirpa notes that Tsurumi is still coming after them. Shiraishi comes up to them from the south entrance, saying that there are soldiers coming from that way and Sugimoto suggests to head towards the east entrance.
Shiraishi declines going eastwards, saying that they should escape from the north entrance instead but Sugimoto is hesistant since the north entrance is where most of the soldiers are. Shiraishi explains that since there are soldiers still coming in through the south entrance, it must mean that Sofia's defence is keeping them from going in through the north, thus they would have to head around to the south and possibly the east entrance as well. As such, the north entrance should not have that many soldiers coming through it, which would give Sugimoto's Group the opportunity to slip through. Shiraishi exclaims that the most important thing is what happens after they escape and that they must absolutely be sure to lose the soldiers coming after them.
At the south entrance bridge, Nagakura and Koito continues their fierce sword fight and Nagakura manages to gain the upper hand while calling Koito a novice who does not come close to the Satsuma soldiers he crossed blades with four decades ago. Nagakura lunges at Koito, causing him to back up onto the bridge railing, shaking it and causing the bag to fall into the moat. Fearing that the land deed would become ruined, Koito jumps into the moat and throws his saber at the bag, revealing that it was actually full of ropes. At the north entrance, Sugimoto's Group comes across Sofia, informing her that they are pulling back to keep the land deed safe. However, Sofia declines, saying that she will keep the soldiers at bay and tells Sugimoto to get Asirpa somewhere safe.
Sofia turns to Asirpa, telling her that she is Wilk's daughter and that he loved her but the future is hers to choose. As Sugimoto's Group leaves Sofia behind, she spots Tsurumi engaging her comrades and points her rifle at him. However, Sofia is haunted by the image of Hasegawa implanted over Tsurumi and hesitates for a moment, allowing Tsurumi to fire a couple of rounds into Sofia. As Sofia collapses to the ground, Asirpa is horrified to see that Sofia has been taken down. Nearby, Tsukishima fires at Sugimoto's horse, causing Asirpa to fall into the moat, but Tanigaki manages to grab onto her makiri knife, exclaiming that he can finally repay his debt to Huci.
